Kyra Panagia is a Greek island in the Sporades. It is the largest of the uninhabited islands of the Sporades archipelago. It lies northeast to Alonissos and is approximately 25 sq km. It has belonged to the Athonite Monastery of Megisti Lavra since it was granted the island by the Byzantine emperor Nikephoros II Phokas in 963.
The island lies at the Alonissos Marine Park (Zone B and is one of the places where the Mediterranean monk seal safely lives.
There is a Monastery renovated in 2017 after 8 years of work. Some people live on the island particularly monks at the Monastery, on the east coast of the island. 🏝💒⛱
